Required Document for SMOE 2012 application

NOTE : September 2012 SMOE program applicant must apply through EPIK program

1. Application form

Applicant must fill in SMOE application form including personal essay and self medical check form. Personal Essay must be more than 300 words and Korvia Consulting Recommend you to write this essay briefly about why you can be a professional teacher at their program.

2. Formal Resume (cover letter)

Resume must be formal and appropriate for applying public school teaching job. Education background and full time teaching experience must be clearly states on your resume and cover letter must be included.

l Lesson Plan will be requested before job interview.

3. BA and MA Diploma (notarized copy only)

SMOE applicant must have 3~4 years BA qualification or above and applicants must provide notarized (Apostilled) copy of BA and MA diploma.

NOTE : Please avoid to obtain Apostille stamp on Original BA/MA diploma because EPIK won't return your diploma if you submit original copy
NOTE : if you submitted letter of graduation proof, you must submit copy of BA diploma + Apostile stamp (You can't bring original BA diploma for orientation)

4. Official Sealed Transcript (BA and MA)

Officially Sealed Academic Transcript must be provided and applicant must provide MA or Doctorate transcript as well (if it is applicable).

l Academic GPA will be requested in order to arrange a job interview with SMOE.

* Note : Final year transcript is not acceptable (full year record only)

5. A clear copy of Passport (Photo page only)

Photocopy of Passport need to be submitted and notarization is not necessary.

6. Criminal Record (Only national level of CRC is acceptable such as FBI & RCMP)

Notarized (Apostillized) criminal background check (FBI or RCMP). Criminal record check only valid 6 month after it issued.

l Web Search Result of Criminal Record Check is not Acceptable and CRC must clearly state that “No Record” or “No record founded” on the statement.

Note: Criminal Background Check is only valid 6 month before starting date.

l FBI check need to obtain Apostile stamp from Washington D.C. only (new EPIK-Seoul Policy since Spring 2012)

7. Two reference (recommendation) letters

Professional recommendation letter (original copy only). Friend or close relative can't issue this reference letter. Academic Professor or employer should issue this letter and letter must have letter head and contact information with signature on.

8. Teaching Certification or Language Certificate (TESOL or CELTA)

Certify teacher must provide notarized copy of teaching certification and Language certificate such as TESOL or TEFL course must be more than 100 hrs credit otherwise it won't effect on your salary level (certificate holder can have better salary).

*Sworn of declaration must be submitted if you haven't completed your TEFL, TESOL certificate course.

9. One passport size photo

You need to prepare several passport photos because you will need after you arrive in South Korea. You need to paste your one passport size photo on your SMOE application form.

10. Three Copies of Contract + Addenda

Korvia will provide you a copy of contract and you need to make three copies and every page must be signed before it sent to Korvia office.

*Note: Addenda must be sent and only one copy requires.

11. Letter of full-time teaching experience proof.

You must provide an official letter from previous employor in order to proof applicant's full-time teaching experience. Copy of visa or copy of contract will not be acceptable and period of employment and "full-time employee" should be stated on your letter.

l Only one full year of experience will be considered as a full time teaching experience (for better salary criteria).
